Walnut Creek Surf Chooses Trace to Strengthen Club Resources for Enhanced Player Development and Recruiting
WALNUT CREEK, CA + AUSTIN, TX (May 21, 2021) – Walnut Creek Surf Soccer Club (WC Surf) and Trace Soccer are excited to announce their expanded partnership for the 2021-22 season. WC Surf will be outfitting 22 teams within the club with the Trace game film system. With Trace, these teams will be able to automatically film matches and scrimmages, create Trace iD recruiting profiles for each player, and receive educational content for both players and coaches from Trace’s on-staff experts.
“Trace is a proven winner in video analysis and their equipment will enable our coaches and parent volunteers to remain in the moment, focusing on their players versus filming or spending time setting up equipment.”
– Steve Chappell, General Manager at Walnut Creek Surf Soccer Club
Walnut Creek SC was established in 1971, and became an affiliate of Surf Sport in 2018. They strive to enrich the community by developing athletes with a strong foundation of skills to play at any level, providing players and families an environment that focuses on teaching life lessons, and building a love for soccer.
“Trace checks all of the boxes WC Surf is looking for, to enhance our player development through capturing (team and individual) game video,” says Steven Chappell, General Manager of WC Surf. “ Trace is a proven winner in video analysis and their equipment will enable our coaches and parent volunteers to remain in the moment, focusing on their players versus filming or spending time setting up equipment. We are excited to offer this new service to our competitive coaches, players and families!”
With hundreds of competitive players, providing personalized video analysis for each player is no small feat. Trace’s AI camera automatically edits and delivers personalized moment playlists to each player’s inbox after every game, requiring no extra editing time by coaches, parents, or club staff.
Through partnering with Trace, WC Surf will be equipped with the most advanced technology for game film analysis to give players and coaches the tools to improve more rapidly. Personalized tools within the Trace system include:

As video becomes more crucial than ever for player development and recruiting, WC Surf is committed to providing it’s teams with new and innovative ways to reach college coaches.

Trace iD, Trace’s own recruiting platform, allows players to create the ultimate highlight reel and take control of their own recruiting process. Players simply select their best match moments, add them to their Trace iD, and seamlessly share the playlist link with college coaches across the country. It’s how one ECNL player managed to secure a spot on a D1 College Soccer team amidst the pandemic.
“WC Surf sees the tremendous value in using game film to accelerate player development and provide an invaluable resource for athletes that want to play college soccer.”
– David Lokshin, CEO of Trace Soccer
By collaborating with Trace, WC Surf now has the tools to foster development for both players and coaches, increases player retention within the club and provides additional exposure to recruiting-age players, all under one platform.
“We’re excited to partner with Walnut Creek Surf Soccer Club,” says David Lokshin, Founder of Trace. “Soccer game film systems have become table stakes for top soccer clubs across the country. WC Surf sees the tremendous value in using game film to accelerate player development and provide an invaluable resource for athletes that want to play college soccer. ”
